What makes the memorising actually work
Staring at a word list is tiring and does not last. The system decides what to review and when, so you do not have to.
Smart flashcards
A spaced-repetition algorithm shows each word right before you forget it. Ten minutes a day is enough.
A note, not just a translation
Cards carry a short note: what the word literally says, where you would use it, which tone trap to watch for. Words alone fade; context stays.
Study in your own language
Each card’s meaning, note and sounds-like line are written for an English speaker. The site also speaks Turkish, Spanish and Russian — every language gets cards written for it, not translated into it.
Audio and tone colours
Every card can be played back, and each syllable of the sounds-like line is coloured by its tone. Tones settle through the ear, not the eye — reading them right is not enough.
Works on your phone
While waiting, on the bus, in a queue. No app to install — the browser is enough.
Progress tracking
How many words you have learned, how many cards are due today, how far along each deck is — all on one screen.
How spaced repetition works
Three steps. The system works out the rest.
- 1
See the card
Only the character at first. Try to recall how it sounds and what it means, then reveal the answer.
- 2
Say how hard it was
Again, hard, good or easy. One tap — no scoring, no judging yourself.
- 3
Let it pick the day
A card you know comes back in months; one you struggled with comes back tomorrow. Your time goes to the words you would forget.
Then hear the words in a story
Short episodes written only with the words in the deck — nothing above your level, so you can actually follow along.

Every line is recorded. Play the whole episode or one line at a time, at normal speed or slowed down.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. The HSK 1 deck starts with the most basic words; every card carries the hanzi, the pinyin, a sounds-like line written for English speakers, the meaning and audio, and most add a short note. No prior knowledge needed.
Each time you rate a card, the system works out when to show it next. A word you know well comes back in months; one you struggled with comes back tomorrow. Your time goes to the words you are about to forget, not the ones you already know.
Yes. The HSK 1 deck is entirely free, and in paid decks you can study the first cards without buying — you actually try the system before deciding. Whatever you studied during the trial keeps its review schedule if you buy the deck later.
They are short episodes written only with the words in the decks, so you can follow them at your level. You listen line by line and tap any word you get stuck on. They are not sold separately: each level’s story comes with that level’s deck. The first two episodes of every story are open to everyone; the rest of the HSK 1 story opens with a free account.
Yes: the HSK 1 Complete Bundle is a downloadable set covering the whole new HSK 1 — workbook, character writing workbook, mock exams and printable flashcards, in English and Spanish editions; audio is not included at the moment. You pay once and keep the files. Unit 1 is a free sample you can download first; the right of withdrawal ends when the first file is downloaded.
Ten minutes a day is enough. Spaced repetition rewards short, regular sessions rather than long, rare ones — ten minutes every day beats an hour once a week by a wide margin.
To study, yes: a free account is where your review schedule is kept, so each card comes back on the right day, on any device. To buy a deck you do not have to sign up first — your account is created at checkout with the details you enter.
Yes — a single payment and access that does not expire. No monthly subscription, no automatic charges. If you buy the "All Decks" pack, decks added to it later are opened up on your account too.
Payments run on iyzico with 3D Secure; we never see your card details. You are charged once, in the currency shown at checkout — there is no instalment option.
For digital content, the right of withdrawal ends once access begins, as Turkish law requires. That is why the first cards of every paid deck are free — before you buy, you try exactly the same product.
